Annual VPHA Community Garage Sale

The twenty-sixth annual VPHA Community Garage Sale will be held on Friday, and Saturday June 6-7 beginning about 9:00 am each day. Ads that announce the garage sale will be placed in the Seattle Times newspaper and on Craigslist. Also, sandwich boards that announce the garage sale will be placed at the entrances to Victoria Park and near major local thoroughfares on the mornings of the garage sale. All residents of Victoria Park are invited to participate.

If you have never participated in a garage sale, well, it's pretty easy! All you really need is stuff that you want to sell, an idea of how much you want to receive for the stuff, and a place to sell it (on tables in your driveway, or on blankets on your front lawn works fine). For tips on how to conduct a garage sale, try searching the web; however, there are a couple of important things to remember about a garage sale that veterans of the trade will tell you. One, garage sale shoppers are looking for bargains, so if you really want to unload stuff, make the price irresistible. Two, mark each item with a price.

Finally, don't hesitate to put up signs near your house that announce yourself as a garage sale participant. After all, you don't want folks to drive by your house because they are unsure about whether you have a garage sale going or you are just cleaning out your garage! Also, it helps for an individual homeowner to place an ad on Craigslist to publicize your particular garage sale. The more publicity, the better.

If you have friends or acquaintances who will be attending the garage sale, directions to Victoria Park are given on the following web page:
